Transforming a Simple Corner into a Beautiful Garden Bed in Woodruff, South Carolina

We recently completed this lovely garden bed installation for a homeowner who wanted to enhance the look of their side yard while softening the appearance of their utility enclosure.

Our design process began with a conversation about the plants the client loved and had enjoyed at their previous home. We were able to incorporate several of those familiar favorites while also recommending other varieties that thrive in our local growing zone and require minimal maintenance.

The project began with a blank canvas — a freshly built enclosure and open lawn space. Once the bed was shaped and prepared, we carefully arranged the plants to create balance, texture, and seasonal interest. Grasses and perennials were chosen to provide movement and color throughout the year.

While mulch would have added a darker contrast to the plantings, the client opted for pine straw for a softer, natural look that complements the home beautifully.

Fall is the best time for planting, allowing roots to establish before the heat of summer arrives. This timing gives the landscape a strong head start so it will flourish when spring returns.
